Certification will help you get a job some places but many places it will not.

My company won't hire you if you don't have experience (or other education in the field beside certification). Experience is #1 by far and any certification you have is just a little bonus. We do require certification once you are on staff, so that is why having certification can be helpful for those that already have experience.

Experience is key for most employers as well.

Certification shows that you care so it is not generally a bad thing but it may not help get a specific job very much.

However, last thought: attitude is so important in getting hired and if in an interview you can be positive and talk confidently then it ups your chances a lot. Perhaps the certification can help in that way.
