About a week ago i filled out an application for a job that I am really interested in. I tried calling and emailing to check on the status and to see if I can go in for an interview but nobody bothers to call back or write back, so I was thinking would it be a good idea to personally go to the company's human resource department and talk to them or would that not be so great? What do you think? MDrape by reviewing their requirements I am way ahead of them I don't think that is the problem, but you could be right about a lot of people applying the economy is really shitty

Only if you feel confident about walking into an office, introducing yourself, explaining what you want from them, and possibly dealing with rejection in a dignified way. It probably is the best approach, but I'm such a scaredy-cat I could never the confidence to do it myself. Hope your lucky!

you can try going by there, but they probably have tons of applications, and if you aren't qualified enough, that may be why. Keep putting in applications and sending resumes. The statistics are that for every 100 jobs you apply for, u get 1 call back with the way the economy is right now.
