Default How to ask for a payrise?

I think im due a payrise at work.
I just completed a course(which my work paid for).under the condition that I have to work there for a another year.

How do I ask my manager for a pay rise?
been there for a year and a bit and I think I get underpaid a lot.

Whats the best place to look for info on this ??

Any suggestions guys??

Take a moment at work and look around. Do you see a person or three who would like to have your job? Are there people outside your place of employ who would apply for your job right away if it were vacated?

...I bet your boss knows the answer.

In yesterday's papers there was a huge article about a major building company that has just gone bust. Major financial organisations are asking staff to take a pay cut. In case you hadn't noticed, we are in the middle of a recession and there are thousands being made redundant every week. I don't think now is the time to be asking for a pay rise, no matter how much you deserve it.
