how to be Professional and stay nice in the same time?

i have to keep a distance with labors and other staff in the company ,but i cant change who i am i like to treat people nice and with respect , i listen to there problems , and help them while i can , but this way made a lot of them cross many lines , i can be so sharp but i don't like this way, i want to find some balance
