I got the name of an executive level person who may be in charge of the department that has a job opening in which I am interested. I need to call him to find out if he is the contact and if so, to sell my skills, experience, etc. He may send me to the company website, but I know I should try to get my name in front of him. I am not good at this type of thing. Any suggestions to pump myself up??

I had to do the same thing this morning. It is not easy. I talked myself into it, by saying it is just a phone call, the worst they can do is send me to the website to apply, which is what they did. I told myself, they can't see me and you can't disrespect someone who is just seeking information and if they do, then why would I want to be in a company like that anyway. They are looking for someone to fill the position, that is where I come in because I have to sell myself. However, they also have to sell themselves to me, so no matter what, they will not be rude, they will just give you the information you need.
