| Ok after high school I did some odd jobs. I went to College but dropped out. I landed my first steady job working at a call center. Fast forward 15 years and Im still stuck in a call center. Well about 3 years I managed to get off the phones and in a different department(within a call center. Well that was the key I hated the phones. Well that department closed I left the job to yet another call center. That was recommended by a co-worked who claimed that it was a different environment and wasnt bad. Basically she sold me a story for a $500 referral commission. How can I get out of this cycle of working in a call center. How can implement my existing experience on to other type of fields/jobs. Any suggestions are appreciated...Thanks |

| See if your company offers tuition reimbursement for retraining (a lot of larger companies do). I agree that without further education it's going to be tough to make a career change, but you don't necessarily have to get a bachelor's degree. There are certificate and 2-year programs out there you can do at night (or online) that can get you retrained for something fairly quickly. If you get laid off, definitely take advantage of anything related to retraining you can get. I really think more education is the best option...without it you're going to have a tough road trying to change careers. Good luck. |
