Currently I'm employed and play a role of a manager my boss tends to come to work in a bad mood and yell bark orders in a very inappropriate way, slam doors tell people to get out of the way or even push us physically. I myself have spoken to this person about these events with no avail. I've spoken to her superiors about this they don't see that there is a problem even after many many good people have left. I'm at the point now for looking for a new job. My real question is when I'm at an interview and get asked why I'm leaving my current job should I tell them the real reason why. I don't want the person that is interviewing me to think I can't handle pressure I can do a hard days work but not with someone like this. I've been at this job for many years so I know this question will come up. She only has been here for a few years otherwise I would have left long ago.

No. Do not give this as an answer when employers ask you why you left your previous job. Tell them you were ready to seek new opportunities. Tell them you are looking for additional responsibilities. Tell them you would like an opportunities to expand and express your skills. Do not tell them your boss got to you. They don't want to know that you came from a bad situation. They're first question to themselves will be "what part of the situation did you play" and "are you a bitter employee after having a bad boss". Don't give them any negative impressions, even if it's not about you, just about your boss. The memory of that negative impression will be associated with you, not your boss. I'm sorry about your boss. I wish your situation was better. Good luck where you are and wherever you go next.

Don't say anything bad about your boss. You can say that you are looking for a position with better long-term prospects. Or that you want better opportunity for advancement. These are accurate and don't mention your problem with your boss. I hope this helps. Gary
