Default Did I ruin my chances in getting this job?

I went for an interview yesterday and feel I did really well. I got passed on from the interview with the HR manager to the next step, which was the director of the department I would be working for. That, I feel, went well also. Upon leaving she let me know that they would call me if I was to meet with the rest of the staff.. final step. When I got home I sent a nice thank you note to the Director. And today, I looked around the website and found the email address of the HR manager as well. I sent her a thank you note also. The thing is.. I used the word position 3 times in two sentences!! OMG I sent it out too quick and should have re-read multiple times. All together the note sounds good but the word makes that one paragraph repetative.

And in the last sentence I told the HR manager I look forward to hearing about the hiring decision....when I kind of think there's still one more step? (meeting the others on staff).

Would this seem like a killer for this position to you? Or my thank you notes showing appreciation and interest overshadow the "position" overload?

Whats your opinion?

There's really nothing wrong with being persistant and polite!

I think you did fine. Yes, you could have cut it from three "positions" to just one, but as someone who has read countless resumes, that's the least of your worries. And there is an upside - you did something that many people don't do any longer: you sent a follow up thank you email. That alone should score you great bonus points...maybe even enough to overlook the overzealous use of the word "position". :-)
