Default Question about going back to work after being a stay-at-home mom for 14 years.?

I have been a stay at home mom for 14 years. I worked until my oldest son was 3. He is now 17. I have 4 kids, and being home for them is important to me. With the economy the way it is, I need to find part time employment. I do have skills, but a terrible resume. I am very knowledgeable in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the internet. I can type approx. 45 wpm. I used to work as an office assistant in Accounting. I can file, make copies, fax documents, answer phones, make collections calls, etc. All aspects of office work, but I am very insecure. I need to find out if there are classes to help with my situation. After being out of the work force for so long, I feel very insecure. I freeze up in interviews. I really need some advice on what I should do. Please pass on some helpful information. Thanks for your help!

Your situation is not as bad as you think it is.There are lots of mothers out there that have the same problem. It means you wont get a really good job but you will still get a job..When you are being interviewed,be as honest as possible.Employers will defenatly ask you why you havent been in labour force for such a long time.Just say..i had devoted my time to my kids, now its time for me to get back to work.Promote yourself as much as possible but make sure you dont sound cocky lol..let them know why they should hire you instead of another person...maybe its the quick mind you have?..or maybe its the communication skills that you have...You will get a job eventually.
