How often should I follow up? I moved to an area where the economy hit hard, but people are getting jobs even if it's part-time. Well, I worked for a temp agency in another state, and I registered with the same agency in the new city I moved to hoping to continue to work for them. It's been 5 months, and the agency hasn't had a job for me.
At first, I followed up every 2 weeks, then once a month. I e-mailed the agency two months ago, and I haven't heard from the staff. I don't mind following up again, but still.... I don't want to give up, but I get tired of following up when it's the same stupid question if they got a job for me. Is it okay to follow up with them once a month to show that I am still available and interested?
I mean, the person knows to contact me, so why should I follow up every two weeks, when it's been 5 months? Or how can I keep the motivation? I know the area's been hit hard because when I do a job search on their site, they don't have many jobs as my other state...still I know that they have jobs that aren't posted like the one I got a few weeks later in the other state.
As much as I want to be loyal to my agency, I am registered with other agencies, but they are bad as well. Still, I want to keep trying...that's what you gotta do anyway.
Any tips on motivation or anything about this situation? I appreciate it very much. It just makes me uncomfortable to ask the same question and try to word it differently every 2 weeks *sigh* and I miss my other job, but I had to move : ( |
