Default Two questions about my new job (P46 and prospects)?

I have just got myself a job, its a 6 month temporary only position. This is my first job ever, and its not in the profession that i want but is still replated in some ways. I have not been able to get a job before because of no previous job therefore no experience but do you think that this 6month position will give me an advantage when applying for other jobs?

Secondly, i need to fill in a p46. I was on job seekers allowance before i got the job (havent actually started yet though) and theres a box on the p46 which says about have you recieved taxable job seekers allowance? Is job seekers allowance taxable?

Thanks!!!

Yes, Jobseekers is taxable income, even though there is no provision to tax it at source. The amount received is well below the weekly tax-free allowance of £124.50 a week, to which all UK citizens are entitled. When you sign off, you will be given a form P45U, so it is unlikely you will need to sign a form p46. New employer will use this to calculate your tax liabilities, but it is likely you will get a tax holiday until your tax allowances have caught up.
