Default What would you think of someone who did the following?

I had to fire someone the other day. It was the middle of that person's shift. They asked, "Do I have to leave now or do I keep working?" I said it was their choice. The person just kept working the last hour or two they had left on the clock. I don't know what to make of it.
Wouldn't a person just be so devastated that they would leave immediately?
So, would you say that person handled it well?

They must have really needed those hours of pay. As long as they did their work and were not disruptive, it seems like a they exercised a great deal of personal restraint in order to get through the day like that.

They wanted the pay to cut their loss. Some people handle problems better than others.
