Is it better to work in the Front of House or Back Of House in a restaurant? Here's a question I've been asking myself lately.....Is it better to work in the kitchen or on the floor as a server or busser? I'm currently working at a pretty good restaurant as pantry(making salads, fixing desserts) and make $10/hour(about $400every two weeks). But as a college student this job doesn't give me such a flexible schedule and it seems like the busser and servers get a more flexible schedule, the only thing i've been wondering is would i on average make more money as a busser or server than at the position i am at now? would a job at a clothes or grocery shop pay better? Being in the kitchen provides a consistent paycheck although it seems like working in the front of the house has the potential to make more $. Alot of my friends work as busser but I have never really wondered why until now, so what do you all think? |
