I'm studying accountancy, business studies and french at school and my dad has encouraged me to become an accountant because of the good pay. I kno that having a qualification in accounting opens doors in the banking industry, but i think I'd prefer to be an accountant. Whats your view?!

I think you should be what you want to be. If its the right job you can be paid more than what yu may think. But I know that being an accountant can be frutrating and you have to be really good with number organization and have a really good memory. I would also suggest that you like the job your doing i have experience with this and trust me it is a waste of time. It doesnt matter the pay. If you like your job and you are really good then you can always rise above the normal pay

no accounting is not difficult but it can be very boring and monotonous for someone who doesn't like crunching numbers all day. others love it. there are plenty of jobs to do solely for "good pay" but trust me after 10 years of doing the same thing you'll get tired of the six figure paycheck and want to do something that you love. so make sure you enjoy it otherwise your frustration will manifest itself in other avenues in your life. people who don't make six figures would probably say that they'd NEVER grow tired of doing the job for the sake of money...but it is true. after you've bought all the "things" you want, went on all the international vacations you could - you will start searching for something that makes you intrinsically happy. if you are worried about employability with a business management and accounting degree don't worry with that background you can work for any company. every single company out there needs bookkeeping done even the government.
