The career field of accounting is a very broad field, and there is so much opportunity within it that many of the interesting jobs never surface until you actually research it.
Accountants, in general, work with financials and provide overview, feedback, assistance, and various other functions for clients and other businesses. That could be the broadest definition of what an accountant does. Now, you also have to realize there are so many fields and positions within the accounting industry. Some examples include tax accountants, auditors, forensic accountants(auditors and taxes), investigators, tax specialists, etc.
If accounting is a major you pursue, the course material will include alot of work with the financial statements a company uses such as balance sheets, income statements, statement of cash flows, etc... and analysis of these.
Overall, in the broadest terms I can give, accountants work with financials and provide assistance, feedback, and assure all computations are correct and properly reflected. |
