| I am doing about 30 hours at work and it all my shifts are 5 hours each. This week my boss has put me on for 9 hours thursday, free friday then 9 hours saturday. I told her that this is too long for me at once and I she just brushed me off and inferred I still had to do the shifts. I don't want to do them what should I do? |

| Legally, your employer is within their rights to schedule you when they need you, not only when it is convenient for you. And the Fair Labor Standards Act does not limit the number of hours you can be required to work. If you don't want to work, you can tell her that you won't, but you can be disciplined or fired for refusing, and you won't be eligible for unemployment. What you should do depends on how badly you want to keep this job. |
