| I am trying to raise money for a group that i have created, but the group is not a nonprofit organization. My group is to raise community awareness of sex education in the US... If that makes a difference at all. Am I legally allowed to raise money or ask for donations if I am not a nonprofit? |

| All you need is a business license. Unless what you are doing requires other certification, and most likely it does. Any donation you receive is taxed as income and there aren't going to be any deductions, it would be better to get your non-profit ID. You can not call yourself non-profit unless you are recognized by the government, and you are actually for profit. |
