Default Looking to pursue a career as a Physician Assistant?

I'm thinking of declaring my major as Health Sciences because at my school you can get into the PA program with that major. I don't want to be a doctor because it's a lot more schooling and responsibility so i'm looking into becoming a PA. I'm reading into the career and it says that you have to assist in surgery. I don't know how much I want to do surgery though. If I have to do it for schooling then it's ok but I don't want that to be part of my every day job. If i'm not into performing surgery should I not look into being a PA? that's really the only thing stopping me at this point.
