A degree as a registered Nurse (RN), can be taken at the Associates level.
This means it will take approximately two years to complete provided the student takes the program as prescribed. In addition, an individual can also take a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN). This would take approximately four years to complete if taken as designed. Because of the intensity of the program, and the prerequisites required, it usually takes longer than what is indicated above. The recommendation would be to complete - at least - all the exact sciences before entering the clinical phase. This way the nursing will be the sole focus. There is a much greater chance of success by doing it this way.

Depends on what type of nurse.

To become an RN you can do a two year program, but you do have prereqs. To get a BSN you typically have a full two years (60 hours) of pre-reqs, then 2 years in nursing school.

If you have a bachelor's degree then you can often get into advanced programs that get you a BSN more quickly.

To become an LVN takes less time.
