| I am trying to decide between two colleges right now for their Nursing Programs. One school is closer to me and is a really beautiful campus but the curriculum doesn't seem as great as the school that's farther then me and you have to take other classes like art or astronomy etc.. just to graduate. Then the other college is not as beautiful of a campus as the other one and seems to have better and more beneficial classes to take without taking Physical Ed or any other classes that aren't necessary to take to be a nurse. Does it really matter which nursing program you choose or is going to a better one that you learn more from better for my future as a nurse and my salary? Could you check out the curriculum's for these two schools and tell me which one you think is a better choice? Thanks! | Any associates program in nursing has the same ultimate goal - to prepare you to take and pass the nursing boards (the NCLEX-RN) so you can become an RN. You will not get a different salary by choosing one school over the other (unless you get a BSN instead of an ADN, in which case you'll make slightly more money with the bachelors). The beauty of the campus is irrelevant. You will be spending every waking moment studying in your room. Just pick the one closest, it will be easier on you. |

| Don't base a decision on what campus is more beautiful. Geez. As for the extra courses which you don't think are relevant, physical education is relevant to nursing because it's related to physical health. They probably have several courses to choose from, and it's not going to be like a high school gym class. As for things like art or music, sociology, etc. those courses are meant to give you a well-rounded education, to understand cultures and history because those things play a role in how you relate to people and the world around you. It is important to nursing in a more subtle way. If you intend on eventually completing your BSN, you will need to take these courses anyway, so you might as well take them now. |
