Default Where do I go to become an RN?

I would like to eventually become a Midwife but I'm not sure how? I know you first have to become a Registered Nurse but can't find anywhere that does RN Courses/Degree's. Does an Associate Degree in Nursing count for the RN or do you have to be an RN before you can start The Associate Degree in Nursing?? Is it a good Idea to do an Online course say at the University of Phoenix (Like you see in all those commercials) Knowing full well at some point I need to be hands on?

Basically, where on earth do I start?! =D
