| So I purchased Zurich contents insurance through Lloyds TSB a little over a month ago because I wanted to cover all my electronics and expensive belongings for theft and accidental damage. I live in an part-furnished private property and set the maximum to be insured for as £10000. More than enough, so I thought. A week ago, Im cleaning my living room and I pull out the TV unit to hoover behind it and as I try to maneuver it back into place, my 46inch LCD TV, falls forward and hits my unit, smashing the screen beyond repair. I call my insurance company to make a claim. Now they're back in touch, hitting me from all angles. ''You've stayed here for two years, why have you only just taken out insurance.'' ''What side of the TV were you standing at? What hand did you use to push the TV? What side hit where?'' ''You're only insured for up to ten thousand. This isn't enough to cover your whole property.'' For a start, when your pride and joy TV gets smashed, you hardly pull out your pen and pencil to make notes of what angle hit what from where! And how the hell can you say that ten thousand is not enough to cover my property...you've never been in my property!! So how can you possible make that judgment. And I've only taken out insurance now because I'm stuck here for another year after trying desperately to relocate and failing miserably. And now, they're saying that they've never seen this type of policy before and they don't usually cover for such a low figure? How is that my fault? I bought this from you and you clearly agreed. I have the documentation to prove this and so do you! Now my claim is on hold. And it's down to an mistake that they've made! The way they're talking seems to me as though they will be unwilling to see my claim through. I am getting ripped off here? |
