Default Is It Legal For My Employer To Pay Me Less Because I Havn't Worked There Long?

I have worked for my employer for 15 months now and i am on standard pay but various other employees are on roughly £1.50 extra an hour just because they have been employed for several years and we all do exactly the same job but us on standard pay have to work longer hours and do not get paid meal breaks unlike the other employees on the higher rate of pay, is it legal for the company to do this?
Also there are women on more money than me because of their length of service, is this not sex discrimination?
i work for a large transport company and he union claims theres nothing they can do but clearly the law states someone cannot be paid differetly because of their gender if they are doing the same job and my union are letting the company get away with it

im not sure if its legal but look at the other side of the coin, if you had been working there for years, wouldn't it be upsetting to know that you are still on the same wage as "the new guys" most people expect some form of pay rise over the years.

As long as you are being paid the legal minimum, being given your correct breaks, I don`t think theres an awful lot you can do...apart from be grateful you still have a job...

A company can pay its employees whatever rate of pay it chooses (providing it meets the minimum pay). I'm afraid they are not breaking any rules by paying you less than other members of staff who have been there longer and, in fact, I think you would find it the same in most firms.
