I work for a medical company where Dr's are invested. Even though I work with the Dr's, they're not involved with the personnel aspect of the company. The company pays them as well. I get along with several of the Dr.'s accept one doesn't seem to like me. I overheard him talking to my co-worker about an incident (it was not a big deal) but he was making a joke about it, whispering and laughing and I heard my co-worker laughing and saying "what did she do that for". I'm 53 and the co-worker 34. The doctor is my age. I thought his behavior was totally out of line, it shows lack of respect and now the co-worker has the same attitude. I'm a loyal worker and my attendance shows it. I've been with this company for 5 years, the co-worker 1 1/2. She is not attractive nor is she mannered, but the Dr. seems to like her. I just don't like being the butt of the joke. It's a small office 3 plus rotating Dr's but this one stays permanently. Money is too good to move on at my age. Any suggestions?

Is this a kind of harassment? you're kidding...right? at 53 i would expect a little thicker skin and a lot less concern about what some co-worker may say. you give these two way to much credit and you are allowing small people to affect your life and career. Any suggestions? YES, just do your job and move on, they are not worth worrying about.... Is this a kind of harassment? NO

you just need to learn how to get a long with them. they didn't harass you sexually or physically. they weren't racist to you. you just overheard them talking about some incident without them knowing you there. It's called Gossip, and it's pretty common in the offices. now, ppl are suppose to act professionally and be sensitive to others, but hey, it's a boring job so we may as well have fun on the expense of someone else. an easy target, and it's you.

No, it's not harrassment. It's just office politics and gossip, and if you blow it out of proportion or try to make an incident out of it, or file a grievance, you'll be asking for more trouble than you can imagine. Ignore it, try to treat everyone professionally and pleasantly, and let your actions and your professionalism speak for themselves. Those who try to make you out to be otherwise will find themselves on the short end of the stick soon enough.
