I was fired today after 7 weeks at a new job for lying on my resume, however I didn't. I was told that they discovered an employer that I left off of my resume who said I was terminated. First and foremost I was never terminated by this employer, I have never been terminated in my life. I had this job for about 3 weeks and it was a very hostile work environment so I left. I was only 19 when I had this job and it had nothing to do with my now professional experience. The company wouldn't even give me a chance to explain. Obviously this isn't the type of company I want to work for if that's how they treat their employees but is there any recourse here? I am in Florida which is a right to work state.

dunno about the US but in ireland your work record with a previous company is private ( unless you choose it not to be). if some employer calls a previous one, the previous one is not allowed to give a bad reference of you. they may give a basic one but not a bad one. i would see a solicitor/lawyer, or whatever your equivalent of the LABOUR RELATIONS COMMISION is. if you are telling the truth and have good work references you definately have a case. i would say your basic employee rights have been violated.
