I own a few websites/blogs and I've turned one of them to the more 'commercial' sector of the internet in hopes of making a bit of residual income as I'm a student and need whatever I can get.

What would be the most effective, and preferably free way of getting substantial traffic without getting on everyone's tits by spamming everywhere?

The website features funny videos/pictures with some written humour articles.
