| How do they work? Would I be able to get money out of it? Or is there some kind of law or rule to where you have to wait til a certain age? Thanks. Oh and I was going to start it with a couple hundred bucks. |

| My kids both have a custodial Charles Schwab account with a couple of hundred in it. They way I set mine up. I set my own brokerage and tied it to my local checking account. Whenever I need some extra money, Schwab lets me transfer to my checking for free. Whenever the kids need any extra money - A step needs to be added. I transfer money out of their account - move it to my brokerage - then move it to my checking. All in one day. I think the starting amount for a custodial account was $100 - it may be higher now. Not real simple, but it works. If you need something simpler, ask your mom to open up a checking account at your local bank for you. You will get a debit card with your name on it. Charles Schwab is the best of the best - congratulations. / |
