How to setup payments Scheme at Leeds Met?

Hi. I have called up to Leeds met to setup a 6 payment option. they said to fill out direct debit mandate and send them immediately £583.33 what will the direct debit form do. does it mean that they will take any necessary money from my bank when they need it and do i have to send the first payment or will the form do that for me.
HELP.
