Default What to think about before putting an offer in to buy a home?

My husband and I are first time home buyers and have found a house that we like. Well I feel like I love it but he doesn't know. What should we look at to decide if this is the place for us. What things should we consider?

Is it a convenient location? How are the schools rated? Is the neighborhood improving, declining or stable? What is the age of the residents in the neighborhood?

Avoid a house with any shortcomings that can't be fixed (such as under a flight path, near a RR, or in a flood plain).

How old is the roof? The furnace? What have the heating/cooling bills run over the last year?

Remember that to some people, a house is just a place to live. Perhaps your husband could make a list of what he likes and dislikes about this house so you could look at it through his eyes.

If you have a sage family member, have them take a look.

If you make and offer and it is accepted, be sure to have an inspection.

Good luck!
