Okay so I'm putting together my first blog and am just wondering how to get backlinks? Where do I go? A lot of people say I can't get links from other people, i dunno my head is confused. HELP!

There are a LOT of ways to get backlinks. They all take work

1) Comment on other blogs in your same area. Most comment systems allow you to leave your web address when you comment.
2) Article directories (Ezinearticles, articlebase, goarticles are examples)
3) Profile links - when you join many websites you can create a profile that allows you to include links in it.
4) Web 2.0 properties - Hubpages, Squidoo, wetpaint, etc.
