| Is sales tax (or transaction privilege tax if you rather) assessed on the amount billed to a consumer, or the amount the consumer pays for services? For example, if you run a water utility company and bill a customer, and this customer pays you half of what they owe (which also would be half the sales tax on what they owe you), would you pay the state the half amount the customer paid you, or the whole amount you billed to the customer? |
