| I've been looking for a part-time job for like 3 years and haven't had any luck what-so ever, I've only had one Interview and I got rejected and the rest never bother contacting me. I know we are in the Recession and that, but even before it started, I still never heard from anyone. I smile, talk clearly and try be as enthusiastic and confident as much as I can. (I am one of those people that has low-self esteem and it is hard). I even dress appropriately and I'm respectful too, saying thank you and please. Some of the time when I asked if they had any job vacancies, these girls that worked there were giving me dirty looks. And another time when I applied for this Visual Merchandiser job in Primark. I was saying that I had experience in this, I do Art Design at Degree level. I was being kind, smiling and trying to be as confident and stuff. When I handed my C.V to this women, she gave it to this man and he shoved my C.V literally in his pants and screwed it up, they were both laughing. I've seen so many of those careers advisers and they said I have a very good C.V and shouldn't have any problems, even after using their advise and do what they say, I still never have any luck. I have many skills, good qualifications and experience too, so I don't know what's going on. I'm 19 now and never had a job, I've done voluntary work, but I soon need to start earning money and I don't have any at all. I want to go Uni and do driving lessons and stuff but I'm stuck on hold all because I'm not good enough. And I'm really really sorry about the spelling and puctuation, I was writing it quite fast, I'm dyslexic too. Hey Adam, I'm doing a degree in Art & Design and got offered a Scholorship, so I'm not a failiure. OMG what a waste of 5 points, waiting for someone to answer and finally get some loser trying to make me feel bad. |

| It may be because you never had a job. Even if you have a degree and are educated, i suggest finding a job thats a little lower on the ladder. Try working at a restraunt and or some place that doesnt require a degree and then work your way up. Make sure you dress accordingly to the job your interviewing for. For example, if you go to a job interview at a business law firm, wear a black skirt, a white blouse, and heels, or if you work for a hot topic you have to dress "goth" like. Those were just random examples. Try to make your self presentable as possible with nice white teeth, clean hair, little makeup, nice outfit, and over all be "clean cut". My advice is don't give up. Good luck. |
