Default Beard or no beard for DBA job interview?

My husband has interview for a DBA with a state college - he wants to know if he should shave his beard and look younger, leave it as is, or shave it into a goatee. Any ideas?
His beard is neatly trimmed and looks good now. It has some gray but he uses color to cover it.

Goatee look strong if they are tight.

Depends on what the beard looks like now - is it full and decent looking or lacking in areas ?? That would be my personal deciding factor

its best to shave it cuz personally i think beards(the long lumberjack kind) are just . . .not neat? the 5 o clock is ok. but during an interview, the employer pretty much examines not just the interview but your husbands attire, appearance, hygiene, etc.
