Well im about to finish my post-grad next year and was wondering what the scope of work in DEVELOPMENT I.T. is, esp the pay.

I have been working with an ngo, developing tools for rural health monitoring & diagnosis and i do like the field of work but i really dont know anything about this as a full time career. Could someone please give me some details on this as a permanent career.
