Default Should I be concerned about outsourcing in computer engineering and science?

I'm a senior in high school and I've thought about majoring in computer engineering or electrical engineering in college. However, recently I've heard of companies outsourcing in Asian countries for these types of occupations. Being a potential American Engineer, I am wondering if I should be worry about going into this major. Should I maybe switch to another?

Nah. Just add some minors in Hindi and Mandarin.

Slightly more seriously, I've never seen an outsourced project of any complexity come back a success. tech support and envelope stuffing, fine, but cultural and linguistic issues ensure failure for serious IT work every time.

Not that the CEO's and VP's mind. They've had their bonus checks and golden parachutes long since.

In these coming days of economic tightening, when work actually needs to get done (as opposed to management group-therapy sessions which has been the staple of most US companies for the last decade) I expect to see a lot less outsourcing occuring.
